It often happens that we get a request from a few people in the group that they would like to do something different, other than hunting, while on safari with us. The world famous Garden Route, running from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town is our choice of route for tours. It is a magnificent piece of coastline stretching over 700km in length. You can choose the length of tour you would like to take. We would recommend a minimum of 4 days to really enjoy this part of our country. Below we have made a list of the main attractions along the way.
Whether your hunt is completed or you would like to take a break for a day or two during your trip we offer day and multi-day fishing trips that will keep you entertained for hours. We will take a short trip down to the small coastal town of Port Alfred where we will be based and from where we will start our charter.
We offer inshore as well as deep sea fishing year round, with the best times for deep sea fishing is usually from May through to August/September.
Bottom fishing species include cob, sand fish, black mussel cracker, cape salmon to name just a few and for the slightly more adventurous we can go deep-sea trawl for tuna in the warm Mozambique current.
The days will be rounded off with fresh sea food at any of the many quaint seafood restaurants in and around Port Alfred.
So your safari has come to an end and you would like to take a trip down the garden route before boarding your homeward flight from Cape Town International. This will take 4 days and we will do 3 overnight stops along the way at Plettenberg Bay, Hermanus and Cape Town. A quick tour where we will do a bit of sightseeing and landmark visits along the way.
This trip is aimed mainly at our wine loving groups and is aimed at showcasing our world class South African Wine Farms and wine makers. During this tour we will base ourselves in the pristine Franschoek Valley in the heart of the cape winelands from where we will visit some of the best wine makers in the world and sample their products over a period of two to three days. Some of the farms we will visit are Tokara, Rupert & Rothschild, DelAire Graf to name only a few.
Similar to the ‘Homeward Bound Tour’ this trip is perfect for the whole family, either pre or post hunt with Hunt African Safaris. We will ensure that there is more than enough time to cover all the main activities along the route and to cater for everyone’s needs. You can combine this tour with the commencement of your hunting safari and book your return flights from Cape Town, where the tour ends. Stopovers on this tour include:
We cover a distance of over 700km along pristine South African coastline during this trip with sightseeing stops along the entire route.
You can fit this tour in during your safari. Maybe do a few days of hunting and then tour the beautiful Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and Tsitsikamma before returning to camp for another few days of hunting. This tour works well for hunting parties who have members in the group whom are not necessarily hunting every day and would like something different while on safari. You decide on the days you would like to travel/tour and we will set it up for your group. .
There is a hidden gem along the garden route when it comes to golf courses. These courses are truly world class and were designed by world famous golfers and designers namely Garry Player, Ronald Fream, Jack Nicklaus and Peter Matkovich.
This tour can be extended or shortened according to your needs.
