Johnny and Jacqui Marais

About your Hunt African Safaris hosts

Born and raised in the Karoo, Johnny Marais is the Fifth Generation Family farmer on their Farm Liliefontein, where he lives with his wife, Jacqui and two young children, Leela and Claude.

Having completed his secondary education at Union High School in Graaff-Reinet, he went on to complete his tertiary education in Port Elizabeth, studying Agricultural Management. Hereafter he started his full-time farming career on their family farm with his father in 1999.

Over time the hunting operation has progressed from a small “Biltong only” operation, mainly catering for the local South African hunters, to the international trophy hunting business it is today. Over the past 20 years many new game species have been introduced to the property and a wide range of hunting concessions have been secured.

Johnny met his wife Jacqui in 2003 and got married in December 2008. Jacqui and her very capable staff (whom which have been together with Jacqui for the past 10 years) take care of the all the lodge amenities, food and laundry, while guests enjoy their safari.
